Arataki Visitor Centre is available to tour groups all year round. We have easy access and there is plenty of parking for cars and buses.

There are a number of options available for visiting tour groups including a 'team building' option:

Option 1

Get buzzed & make your own beeswax candle -Team building option!

In this option your team can make their own beeswax candles and you may decide to give points on design. This option can also be incorporated as part of Hosted Commentary or as a progressive adventure race team building exercise. We may even be able to supply your corporate colours

Option 2

Bee enthralled tour - Allow 60 minutes, time can be adjusted to suit your needs

In this option a member of the Arataki team will be assigned to your group throughout your visit to the Arataki Honey Visitor Centre. Your group will be guided through the displays & taken on a more personal tour. They will get to participate in free honey tasting, while given an explanation on the different honey types & flavours. At the end of your visit each paid participant will be given a free 250g pot of Arataki Honey & given time to explore the centre at their own leisure. The time with your own Visitor Centre guide will be 40 minutes.

Adults: $8 per person
Child: 5-14 years - $5.00 per child
Minimum 5 - Max 50

Hosted Commentary

Your group will be met and greeted by a member of the Arataki Visitor Centre team. They will be given a brief explanation on the history behind Arataki Honey and given direction on what the centre offers & then left free to explore the centre at their own leisure. this time in the Visitor Centre with our guide will be 10 minutes.

School Groups

Our educational tour is approximately 45min - 1hour long.
We can cater for groups of up to 40 children at one time.
We do recommend that Preschool visitor numbers are kept to around 20 – 30.

The Arataki Honey Visitor Centre provides structured educational visits throughout the year for school groups wanting to learn about honey bees, honey making talent and the important impact bees have on our environment. We provide a tour structure for primary and intermediate schools and liaise with high schools about content for their visit.

If your group has been studying something specific we will endeavour to cover this during the tour, so please ensure that you inform us at the time of your booking.

All educational tours during term time are free to all Preschool through to High School.

New tour options for weekends & school holidays - Great for someone's birthday, school sports teams and organised school programmes.

Option 1 - Sweet Treat

60 minute educational programme that includes 3 four minute movies on the honey bee, honey and beekeeping - with a sweet treat for everybody to take away with them at the end!

Cost: $3.00 per child

Option 2 - Candle Making

30 - 40 minute educational programme with 20 minutes at the end to make some rolled candles out of natural bees wax.

Cost: $5.00 per child
